Look around while dribbling to remember where colors, space, and other players are before the signal appears.
Color-call escape
Reaction & fun · Scanning · Change direction · Agility & acceleration
Prepare scanning, reaction, and controlled acceleration toward changing visual targets.
Why this design: Players must gather information before and after a visual signal, then balance urgency with route safety. Duplicate targets preserve choice so reaction speed never requires a collision.
18 × 22 yard grid with colored gates on each side
Place two gates for each of four colors or shapes around the boundary and start players with balls throughout the center. Organize 8 players before starting. Give every player a clear movement route. Check every player can move without entering another group's route.

Run it in this order- 0:45 · Show the entry action: Show pre-scan: Look around while dribbling to remember where colors, space, and other players are before the signal appears. Invite players to copy it before adding another movement.
- 2:11 · Walk and identify colors: Players dribble freely and scan for each colored gate. Use one simple action, generous space, and no elimination. Inside each timed phase, offer short repetitions and pauses whenever players need to reset.
- 0:20 · Drink and reset: Offer a drink, demonstrate the next action briefly, and rotate partners or leaders if used. Take more time whenever needed and shorten play.
- 2:11 · Turn at moderate pace: Coach shows a color, shape, or points to a side; players turn toward that gate but may choose a different route to avoid traffic. Stay within comfortable control; simplify if space or balance is lost.

Use an inside cut, outside cut, or sole pull to face a matching gate without leaving the ball behind.
Choose between duplicate matching gates or change route early when the direct lane is occupied.
Cross with one controlled ball touch and begin slowing after the gate before returning to the center.
