Use the inside of a foot to move across the lane, then the outside of the same foot to return around the next cone.
Cone slalom & burst
Dribbling · Ball mastery · Agility & acceleration · Change direction
Raise movement intensity through controlled turns followed by a short acceleration.
Why this design: The lane gives players repeated changes of direction before a brief acceleration. Separating the controlled weave from the burst teaches that small preparation touches and a larger exit touch serve different purposes.
Parallel 12 × 4 yard lanes
Build enough parallel slalom lanes to keep groups to two or three players, with recovery space after the final cone. Organize 8 players before starting. Give every player a clear movement route. Check every player can move without entering another group's route.
- Players
- 4–16
- Equipment
- 8 balls (1 per player) · 12–18 cones for 3 slalom lanes (4–6 in each)
Show inside-outside rhythm: Use the inside of a foot to move across the lane, then the outside of the same foot to return around the next cone. Invite players to copy it before adding another movement.
Run it in this order- 0:45 · Show the entry action: Show inside-outside rhythm: Use the inside of a foot to move across the lane, then the outside of the same foot to return around the next cone. Invite players to copy it before adding another movement.
- 2:11 · Walk the pattern: Players weave at walking speed using any surface. Use one simple action, generous space, and no elimination. Inside each timed phase, offer short repetitions and pauses whenever players need to reset.
- 0:20 · Drink and reset: Offer a drink, demonstrate the next action briefly, and rotate partners or leaders if used. Take more time whenever needed and shorten play.
- 2:11 · Jog with clean technique: Repeat with an inside-outside rhythm and balanced body position. Stay within comfortable control; simplify if space or balance is lost.
- 0:20 · Drink and reset: Offer a drink, demonstrate the next action briefly, and rotate partners or leaders if used. Take more time whenever needed and shorten play.
- 2:13 · Add one short controlled burst: Exit the final cone with a controlled five-yard burst, then walk back outside the lane. Stay within comfortable control; simplify if space or balance is lost.
Plant outside the ball and use the inside surface to redirect it across the body around a cone.
Use the outside surface to take the ball away from the body and around the cone on the same side.
After the final cone, push the ball two or three running steps ahead into an empty lane and accelerate to catch it.
