Traffic-light dribbling
Dribbling · Ball mastery · Scanning · Focus & reflection
Prepare close control, scanning, and safe changes of speed through simple visual cues.
Why this design: Simple visual signals combine close control with looking away from the ball. Changes of speed are predictable enough for safety, while later choices teach players to react without following traffic blindly.
20 × 20 yard grid
Players dribble freely while the coach shows and names a hand signal everyone can see: open hand for go, hand moving slowly for slow, and two still hands for stop. Colored cue cards or cones are optional. Boundary cones are optional: agree clear existing lines or fixed ground landmarks and walk the limits together. Organize 8 players before starting. Give every player a clear movement route. Check every player can move without entering another group's route.

- 2:11 · Walk and learn colors: Green means move with the ball, yellow means small slow touches, and red means controlled stop. Use one simple action, generous space, and no elimination. Inside each timed phase, offer short repetitions and pauses whenever players need to reset.
- 0:20 · Drink and reset: Offer a drink, demonstrate the next action briefly, and rotate partners or leaders if used. Take more time whenever needed and shorten play.

Shorten the stride and keep alternating touches within one step while continuing to move.
Use the sole or inside to stop the ball, stay balanced beside it, and immediately look for the next signal.
On a blue or coach-selected signal, use any controlled turn and travel away from nearby players.
