Two 10-yard movement lanes
Use two wide lanes with players spaced several yards apart and walking returns outside.
- Players
- 4–24
- Equipment
- 8 cones · Optional soccer balls
- Take a short forward step into a comfortable shallow lunge and return to standing.
- Add an overhead reach, then a gentle rotation toward the front leg.
- Alternate legs for four to six controlled repetitions before an easy jog back.
Gradual intensity
- Shallow step and return
- Add reach and rotation
- Flow into an easy jog
- Front knee follows the toes
- Move only through a comfortable range
- Control before speed
Make it easier
Use a small split-stance knee bend with hands on hips.
Add a stretch
Carry a ball and place it gently beside the front foot before standing.
Same idea, different entry
- U6–U8Use one movement at a time, copy a quick demonstration, and keep every round playful.
- U9–U10Combine two actions, invite both feet, and build from control toward moderate speed.
- U11–U12Emphasize controlled ankle-knee-hip alignment, deceleration, and a gradual rise in intensity.
Safety check
Never force range, bounce, hold painful positions, or use partner pressure; stop if a player reports discomfort.
If it breaks down
- Players take steps that are too long; shorten the range immediately.
- Balance breaks down; remove the rotation and use a nearby ball as a visual target.
