Three or four parallel 12 × 4 yard lanes
Create parallel one-way lanes and a clear walking return outside each lane.
- Players
- 4–24
- Equipment
- 12–20 cones · Optional ball per player
- Move through with an easy jog or skip, then walk back.
- Add side shuffles and controlled backward movement without crossing feet.
- Finish with a smooth build-up to moderate speed, then decelerate before the end cone.
Gradual intensity
- Easy locomotion
- Multi-direction movement
- Moderate build-up and controlled stop
- Tall posture
- Quiet, controlled steps
- Build speed gradually
Make it easier
Use walking, marching, and side steps only.
Add a stretch
Carry or dribble a ball after the movement pattern is controlled.
Same idea, different entry
- U6–U8Use one movement at a time, copy a quick demonstration, and keep every round playful.
- U9–U10Combine two actions, invite both feet, and build from control toward moderate speed.
- U11–U12Emphasize controlled ankle-knee-hip alignment, deceleration, and a gradual rise in intensity.
Safety check
Keep lanes one-way, prohibit maximal sprinting, and use only comfortable ranges of motion on a checked surface.
If it breaks down
- Players rush technique; shorten the lane and lower the speed.
- Groups wait; add lanes or release players with wider spacing.
