Three 15-yard lanes with markers at 5 and 10 yards
Mark three sections in each lane and leave a safe deceleration zone after the finish.
- Players
- 4–24
- Equipment
- 12 cones
- Skip through the first section with relaxed arm action.
- Side shuffle through the second section while facing the same direction.
- Accelerate through the final section at controlled speed and decelerate gradually.
Gradual intensity
- Relaxed skip
- Controlled lateral movement
- Submaximal acceleration
- Rhythm first
- Do not cross the feet
- Smooth speed up, smooth slow down
Make it easier
March, side step, and jog the three sections.
Add a stretch
Add a ball for the final acceleration after movement quality is consistent.
Same idea, different entry
- U6–U8Use one movement at a time, copy a quick demonstration, and keep every round playful.
- U9–U10Combine two actions, invite both feet, and build from control toward moderate speed.
- U11–U12Emphasize controlled ankle-knee-hip alignment, deceleration, and a gradual rise in intensity.
Safety check
Keep intensity below maximal, allow full recovery space, and do not use backward races or sharp cuts on poor surfaces.
If it breaks down
- Players treat it as a race; remove timing and emphasize movement quality.
- Deceleration space is short; move the finish cone or lower the speed.
