Personal spaces inside a 16 × 16 yard grid
Players spread out with one ball each and imagine north, south, east, and west around their ball.
- Players
- 4–24
- Equipment
- 1 ball per player · 4 boundary cones
- Roll the ball side to side with the sole while shifting body weight.
- Pull the ball back and push it forward with the same foot, then switch.
- Coach calls a direction; players roll, turn, and dribble three touches that way.
Gradual intensity
- Small stationary rolls
- Add controlled turns
- Finish with three quick escape touches
- Stay over the ball
- Soft supporting knee
- Roll, step, then look
Make it easier
Use side-to-side rolls while stationary.
Add a stretch
Link a sole roll to a pull-push or inside cut chosen by the player.
Same idea, different entry
- U6–U8Use one movement at a time, copy a quick demonstration, and keep every round playful.
- U9–U10Combine two actions, invite both feet, and build from control toward moderate speed.
- U11–U12Emphasize controlled ankle-knee-hip alignment, deceleration, and a gradual rise in intensity.
Safety check
Use dry, stable surfaces, keep rolls within comfortable range, and never force ankle or hip movement.
If it breaks down
- Players reach with a straight supporting leg; reduce the range and soften the knee.
- Balls collide; increase personal space and use alternating groups.
